HyLIFT-DEMO Project meeting in Denmark
On July 4th 2011 the HyLIFT-DEMO project held its second project meeting in Herning, Denmark. During the meeting project partners were able to exchange actions and future developments. The hosts, H2 Logic, gave a tour of their premises and presented the hydrogen fuel cell forklift truck prototype to be deployed with the project demonstration sites. The HyLIFT-DEMO project will conduct a large scale demonstration of Fuel Cell Hydrogen (FCH) powered FLTs (Fork Lift Trucks), while building the business case to enable following deployment and introduction by 2013. This first small scale series production of FLT will seek to validate the value proposition and commercial and environmental targets by retrieving the data provided by the demonstration operation.

FC-HyGuide: Invitation to Public Consultation
The project FC-HyGuide aims to develop a Guidance Document for LCA studies on hydrogen production and fuel cell technologies. It is financed by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU), a public private partnership supporting research, technological development and demonstration activities in fuel cell and hydrogen energy technologies in Europe. After several months of project work, a Technical Expert Workshop (held mid February 2011 in Brussels) and the revision of the draft Guidance Document the project team now wants to invite Stakeholders and interested people to critically comment on the advanced Guidance Document for: –       hydrogen production
–       fuel cell technologies This public consultation will be carried out from April 1 2011 until April 30 2011. Two documents (one for hydrogen production and one for fuel cell technologies). Further information may be found on the project website : www.fc-hyguide.eu

HyLIFT-DEMO project Kicked off in Brussels February 9, 2011
The overall purpose and ambition of HyLIFT-DEMO is to conduct a large scale demonstration of hydrogen powered fuel cell forklifts, which enables a following deployment and market introduction starting no later than 2013. The project will conduct a 2 year demonstration of at least 30 units of 2.5-3.5 tons forklifts with a fully integrated 3rd generation fuel cell system and hydrogen refueling infrastructure at end-user sites. The project kickoff was held at the new facilities of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking in Brussels. The project partners were brought together to exchange the first impressions of the project and work involved. EHA is the dissemination partner for the HyLIFT-DEMO project.

FC-HyGuide Technical Expert Workshop
On 14th and 15th of February 2011, the FC-HyGuide Technical Expert Workshop was held at the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and Arts in Brussels. Organised in the framework of the FC-HyGuide project, the workshop grouped experts from both research and industry, to present and discuss the first draft of the “Guidance document for performing LCAs on Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies”. The workshop, organised in parallel sessions for discussing the specificities of each technology, was characterised by a fruitful discussion among all the participants. EHA is a Dissemination partner within the FC-HyGuide project.

HyPROFESSIONALS, Development of educational programmes and training initiatives related to hydrogen technologies and fuel cells in Europe
The project is focused on the development of educational programmes and training initiatives for technical professionals to secure the required mid- and long-term availability of human resources capable to properly operate the technologies safely.
This will be done for various educational levels, including several countries with different experiences on the matter. Cooperation with other educational programs like Leonardo will be sought to launch new initiatives and projects which allow getting enough well-trained work force related to hydrogen technologies in a near future.
