An innovative off-grid housing development in Chiang Mai, solar powered hydrogen storage multi-house complex. Thailand-based development company CNX Construction built the world’s first 24-hour, The houses are powered entirely by a solar-hydrogen system — a world’s first for energy storage of its size. The solar-powered hydrogen storage system provides 24-hour, year-round access to clean energy, even during periods of bad weather. The company has not released cost figures for the project, but said, “We have calculated a return on our investment (ROI) based on 5 to 6 Thai Baht/kilowatt hour. The time for a ROI will be around 15 years as of today.”
“Due to its widening acceptance, the cost of similar systems will drop within the next 3 to 5 years and will generate a much faster ROI,” the release added.
