Eight  years ago the EHA was contacted by a local network of concerned Malinese engineers who wondered how to best use the reservoirs of naturally occuring hydrogen in Mali. Air Liquide engaged in studying and exploiting this phenomenom  as well as a local petrol company. A few years later the Ukrainian Association for  Hydrogen Energy joined the EHA and presented activities in the Ukraine in this field. On June 18 2018 Dr. Alain Prinzhofer of GEO4U.com.br presented current status of the many natural hydrogen spots around the world at the WHE2018. Although the purity of these hydrogen “sources is less pure, interesting exploration opportunities might exist that could be exploited in the future. Last February a start up Natural Hydrogen was set up to start natural hydrogen exploitation.policy

On the second day status of the FCH JU HyLaw project was presented: HyLaw stands for removal of legal barriers to the deployment of fuel cells and hydrogen applications.  The project brings together 23 partners from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, the Netherlands and United Kingdom and is coordinated by Hydrogen Europe; they compiled policy recommendations for 18 EU countries and good overview of all relevant EU directives.
