The FC-HyGuide project, funded by the European Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) is coordinating two training courses on the 1st and 29th of September based on the development of a guidance document and related training materials for LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) studies on fuel cells and hydrogen production. The document is based on the ILCD (International Reference Life Cycle Data System) Handbook co-developed by the European Commission’s JRC-IES and the ISO standards 14040/14044.

The first training course will take place the 1st Sept. 2011 from 9:00 –17:00 in Berlin. Registration via: FC-HyGuide/Berlin.

Registration ends 5th of August

The second training course will take place the 29th Sept. 2011 from 8:30 –16:30 in Bologna. Registration via: FC-HyGuide/Bologna

Registration ends 14th of September

Attendance is aimed at Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) practitioners and all interested participants from hydrogen and fuel cell industry, SME, research and academia.

The guidance document includes a manual that offers step by step guidance for LCA practitioners in industry and research to perform an LCA and also demonstrates some case studies. The project will make the related information available in the ILCD (International reference Life Cycle Data system) Data Network.

Sustainability is a key driver of the FCH JU activities and it is necessary to assess the new developments towards these goals. LCA will therefore be applied throughout the FCH JU on a programme level. To meet this goal the FCH JU will require dedicated practice guidance for hydrogen  fuel cell technologies.

For more information on the courses and how to register see: FC-HyGuide – Berlin, FC-HyGuide – Bologna. Registration is obligatory to attend the training course.
