When: 8 October, 2012

This year’s 10th edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities is organised by the Committee of the Regions and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional Policy under the theme “Europe’s regions and cities: Making a difference’. On 8-11 October, some 100 seminars and workshops will be organised in Brussels and another 200 and more local events will take place between September and November under the theme ‘Europe in my region, Europe in my city’ across Europe.

The OPEN DAYS 2012 seminars and workshops are focusing on three thematic priorities:

  • Smart and green growth for all;
  • Territorial cooperation: an asset for Europe;
  •  Delivering results and the main achievements of the EU cohesion policy and how can the intentions of the new regulatory framework proposed by the European Commission for 2014-2020 be best implemented.

By October 2012, the Committee of the Regions and the European Parliament will both have adopted their positions on the European Commission’s legislative proposals for cohesion policy 2014-2020. The debate will continue in the Council and with the Member States, driven by the overall discussion on the Multiannual Financial Framework.
