These were the words of state scercetary of Economic affairs and Energy of NRW at the presentation of the NRW IN4Climate NRW study on consequences of the use of hydrogen in industrial demand in DE and NRW on May 23, 2019. German wind energy capacities are increasing from 39,3 GW in 2017 to 51.7 GW in 2019 of which 5 GW will not be transported by cables but by new technologies according to Amprion, Coal production was down 34% compared to 2013. Where according to the study Germany is looking at a potential of 25-100GW electrolysis potential by 2030 and 75-250 GW by 2050 (depending on GHG emission ambitions form 55% to 95%) , NRW is looking at 40GW of electrolyzer capacity by  2050 baed on Steel and REfinery demand. Amprion is planning 100 MW in 2022 and 3000 MW in 2030.  Many new intiaitves were presented especially in Emsland: the GETH2 initiative  supported by RWE is linking the city of Welte (Audi location) in the north with a pipeline link to H2 Network of Air Liquide and H2 potential in Duesseldorf and Duisburg.
