Germany’s long awaited H2 strategy is floating as a draft over Brussels desks sibnce Febraury 3 2020, key points

  1. By 2030, the mandatory share of renewable fuels in transport, including hydrogen, will be increased to 20% instead of 14%.
  2. At the same time, the necessary fuel station infrastructure is to be promoted with €3.4 billion.
  3. The selected  “Real laboratories” sto test production and application of hydrogen are to be tested on an industrial scale, will also be increased.
  4. In addition to the €400 million already provided, €650 million are planned for over four years.
  5. Germany is also looking at importing green hydrogen (from Northern Africa) as the draft is mentioning that  “a large part of the future demand for CO2-free or CO2-neutral hydrogen will have to be imported,”

On February 11, 2020 the German Gas Transmisssion System Operator Association FNB  presented a vision for a 5,900 km hydrogen network, based on  90% on existing pipelines and storage tanks
