At Rigenergia (May 25 to 27, 2012) was presented the hydrogen powered plane developed by the Politecnico of Torino designed by the engineer Giulio Romeo and implemented thanks to the collaboration among a dozen companies and institutions involved in the project Enica FC (Environmentally Friendly Inter City Aircraft powered by Fuel Cells) of the European Communities.
The aircraft, the first in Italian history to move thanks to hydrogen, is equipped with an electric engine 40 kW while the gaseous hydrogen feeds the 20 kW fuel cells that turn the propeller. In case of need the aircraft may take the necessary energy from a lithium polymer battery pack that supports the need for energy during takeoff
