On October more than 1.700 companies “brought Paris home” by agreeing to collectively resuce 9% CO2, or 17,6 Mt the equivaleny of 7 mln cars. During the event the Dutch railways (NS) announced that all electric trains operating in the Netherlands will be powered by renewable energy as of 2017  a year ahead of schedule and covering both passenger and freight services. The NS buys  1.4 terawatts of electricity per year, of which 1.2 terawatts is used for traction. To date half of this amount comes from renewables. Them move comes following a court decision last year urging the government to cut  carbon emissions by 25%by 2020.
