The second of the H2 FC and Battery Group Exhibit day kicked off with a presentation of Denis Thomas of Hydrogenics on the latest updates of the FCH JU funded Don Quichote project, for which the EHA supports the dissmination: the opening of the innovative electrolyser plant connected to a wind mill at the Colruyt supermarkets’ logicitcs centre near Brussels last month stirred a lot of attention. Later that day elevator pitches from the main electrolyser companies included references to MW systems that are able to level peak renewable energy production sparks:

  • NEL, 75 on payroll and 200mln  net worth promoted its Car 200 station that it created with H2 Logic. CAR-200 provides a peak rush-hour capacity of up to 100kg in 3 hours on one fueling hose similar to that at conventional gas stations, enabling a flexible scaling of capacity as demand grows. Storage can be dimensioned to address a daily fueling demand of up to 200kg per day and any hydrogen supply configuration. Footprint of the CAR-200 has been reduced to only one third of the previous generation CAR-100 enabling installation at even compact gas stations.
  • AREVA H2Gen PEM electrolysers are dedicated to industrial markets for hydrogen production ranges from 5 to 120 Nm3/ h and up to multi MW capacities for renewable energy storage and mobility applications.
  • ITM Power electrolyser product HGas was shortlisted for the HERMES AWARD 2016.  The HERMES Award is the world’s most prestigious prize for industrial innovations that is awarded every year at the Hannover Fair. The Hgas system responds in less than 1 second, capturing intermittent renewable power to efficiently generate high purity hydrogen at pressures up to 80 bar.
  • Proton OnSite M Series PEM Hydrogen Generation System achieved over 500,000 cell operating hours with no failures or loss in efficiency.
  • Heliocentris teamed with ACTA to develop small electrolysers and recently installed a system at a refugee centre in France
  • ETOGAS developed  the Power-to-Gas (PtG) concept in collaboration with the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Wuerttemberg (ZSW) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES).
  • McPhy Energy’s LASHY proposition connects renewable energy producers with the industrial hydrogen market. The proposition involves installing an electrolyser and hydrogen storage on the ENR producing site, as well as a management service for hydrogen production, known as an “arbitration system.” The arbitration system balances electricity or hydrogen production with possible services to the power grid. The choice is made according to several criteria such as electricity-market price-volatility, remuneration conditions for clearing and using of electrical networks.
