On December 5, the EU Council discussed the Lithuanian proposal to move away from targets for alternative infrastructure by 2020 and instead opt for national strategies by 2030 that included fixed budget and standards in all EU Member States. Only the low countries were in favor of keeping the targets. The EU Parliament Transport Committee a week before just eased the targets and also moved the national strategies to 2030 instead of the EC ambition of 2020.

Although national strategies and fixed budget are necessary fast action is needed too to ensure industrial investment and fast roll out of alternative vehicles especially FCEV and BEV. Please find links to the Council press release here and the European Parliament legislative observatory here
