The 2011 edition of “L’energia spiegata ‐ Festival dell’Energia” marks a significant shift towards a wider and more international approach of the event. During the previous editions (2008, 2009 and 2010), the Energy Festival confirmed its leading role in the energy debate at national level. The event was able to gather the expertise and trends of industries and institutions and to offer an open and super partes place to discuss and positively enhance different visions and positions on energy topics.

The city of Florence decided to host the Festival because of its international scope, combined with a major role played by the local territory and municipalities, as part of a global and local vision of the energy future, with a view to saving, smart consumption, innovation and sustainability; a vision supported and shared byTuscany Region and Province of Florence. Cooperation with the European Commission and with Embassies of France, Holland and the United Statesensures quality and a wide approach to the issues addressed and to the Festival’s global vision.

The main topic “Smart Energy” will be thoroughly investigated in different sections of the programme:

• Energy for working and producing
• Energy for moving
• Energy for growing and living
• Energy for having fun and learning
