The Dutch government has highlighted its priorities for its EU presidency in the EU parliament on January 11, 2016. NL Focus will be on: how Europe could achieve its economic goals and use raw materials and energy wisely? The Netherlands emphasises the synergy between these issues and is working towards a future-proof model for sustainable growth with references to the need of a ‘circular’ economy, which entails the wise use and re-use of natural resources and raw materials, including waste. At a hearing on January 25, 2015 on the Urban Agenda, the four priorities that have been included in the so’called Pact of Amsterdam were discussed including Air Quality. The EU Commission is developing an Urban lab and a 80 mln call for proposals is open for business through the Urban Innovation Actions, including on Energy Transition funded through the European Structural Development fund.
