During The Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Technology Initiative convened the 3rd Stakeholders General Assembly on the 9th of November 2010. The audience was addressed by a representative of each European institution including a very supportive video address made my Commissioner for Research Màrie Geoghegan-Quinn.

Ms.Quinn gave emphasis on innovation and explained, “Innovation is the cornerstone” and thus the policy process needs to back innovators to get from ideas to products. On that note she introduced the Innovation Union Flagship Initiative, one of the seven EU flagship initiatives proposed to move towards the goals of the ‘EU2020 strategy’ released by the Commission on 3 March 2010. The Innovation Union’s 3 objectives are: Creating world class science base, To revolutionise the way public and private sectors work together, notably through Innovation Partnerships, Concerted and determined to clear bottlenecks which prevent new ideas to make it to the market.
