On 23 May 2013 opened in Messina the new National Research Council “Centre for the promotion of innovation and energy technology transfer” which is a “Test Centre” for the study of hydrogen technologies, for applications in the sector of energy production for land and naval  transport.

The Test Centre covers an area of 2000 m2 and is able to characterize various type of innovative energy systems:

  • polymeric fuel cells  12 to 50 kW.
  • 50 kW power out hydrogen generators from gaseous or liquid fuels.
  • hydrogen storage systems.
  • electrolysers using renewable energy sources.
  • high temperature fuel cells.
  • trigeneration systems up to 50 kW
