At the age of 76 one of the pioneers in fuel cell developments in recent years died in Vancouver at the age of 76. Geoffrey Ballard, who started his career with Mobil and the USArmy, founded Ballard Research to work on lithium batteries and later on fuel cells built the first fuel cell bus in 1993. After selling the company he later founded General Hydrogen.
