Two days before the Dutch TSO’s for Gas and Electricity, TenneT and Gasunie shaked hands on developing a large offshore facility to dispatch wind power into gas networks via hydrogen, Wind Europe measured 250GWh of offshore wind production on September 11, a record in Europe (19.8% of net demand in Denmark 83%!). A week, later, and on the same day the FCH JU lauded its two largest transport projects, just across the street news broke that the EU Commission is planning a communication by November in which it would outline its ambition to go for zero CO2 (“CO2ke 0”) in the entire EU by 2050, tailing the first  countries (China, UK, Norway, France, India  and cities (Mexico, Suttgart, Paris) that increasingly ban fossil fuels on their streets from from as early as 2025. The EHA joined colleagues at the Connecting Europe Facility Days in Talinn on September 21 -22, 2017 (see photo) to present the 10 hydrogen corridors that are now totalling 77 public stations eager awaiting ehhhmmm….cars. In Talinn EU vice president Šefčovič invited  the hydrogen and battery projects in CEF to communicate the first experiences with the CEF Synergy and Blending call for proposals, as the requirement of links to TEN T Core Network and (Energy) Projects of Common Interest (PCI) seem to hamper a sustainable roll out in all Member States. Over the last few weeks EHA therefor also joined ENTSO-E and ENTSO-G meetings to ensure sufficient text on the role of hydrogen as input to a joint Ten Year Network Development Plan is still open till November 10, 2017!
