International cooperation topics in the Horizon 2020 EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation have traditionally focussed on cooperation with the large industrialised nations; US, Canada, Japan, China, Australia and BRICS, i.e.  Brazil, Russian Federation, India, China and South Africa. The FCH JU supported an industrial  FC CHP project in China (see photo) and the program offers regulation codes and standards (RCS) topics as a possibility for international cooperation with the US and Japan.

The  $1 Billion clean energy venture fund The Breakthrough Energy Coalition brings together a global group of investors who are committed to developing the new generation of energy technologies among which FCH technologies still need to emerge…

The Coalition was launched alongside Mission Innovation, a multi-billion-dollar clear energy research and development initiative on the opening day of COP21, December 2015 in Paris. The countries participating in the initiative committed to doubling their clean energy technology research and development budgets by 2020 and private investors will boost their investments in the sector.

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) launched at COP15 in Copenhagen, where advanced economies formally agreed to jointly mobilise USD 100 billion per year by 2020 in order to address mitigation and adaptation needs of developing countries. As of December 2016, within the initial resource mobilisation period, 2015-2018, the GCF has raised 10.3 billion USD. Of this number, the EU member states have contributed  4,481 billion. The EHA is therefor committed to boost European FCH technologies visibility in emerging and developing countries to facilitate the development of knowledge clusters and  technology cooperation to support their energy transitions.
