100% renewable targets will require power storage to manage flows on the net
Electrolysers utilise these intermittent power flows to produce H2 gas from water
H2 gas can be stored in large quantities underground and transported via existing gas pipelines
H2 vehicles recharge faster and are more durable than battery powered transport
Growing H2 demand in industrial processes will reduce costs and increase supply

On July 2 the main national renewable energy associations published a declaration on the occasion of the adoption last month of EU Council and Parliament of the Renewable Energy Directive, the Governance Regulation, and the Energy Effi-ciency Directive, the first steps have been taken.  Now all focus is on the Market Design Directive and Regulation,  a unique opportunity to transform  inflexible electricity markets into renewable energy markets according to the asssociations. They therefor call for an end to the  capacity mechanism that requires (fossil- fuelles) back up power in case renewable fall still (like over the last few weeks with low  wind power, but lovely sunny weather in most parts of Europe).
