A fuel cell that Air Liquiode’s subsidiary AXANE developed was tested on February 19, 2009 at the Autrans (Alps, France) resort to light a cross-country ski trail. The 2,5 kW fuel cell made it possible to supply electricity without any emissions polluting this totally isolated site. AXANE, in partnership with EDF, helped light up a loop of a cross-country ski trail by installing nonpolluting technologies that fit perfectly into the environment. The use of a fuel cell supplied with hydrogen is a clean alternative for producing electricity on isolated sites of the network. This technology has already been used to supply mobile telephone relay stations.
