H2 USA follows H2Mobility hydrogen infrastructure initiatives in Europe

Following the national H2Mobility initiatives that have been started across Europe in Germany, UK, France, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Portugal. The US Department of Energy (DOE) on May 13, 2013 launched H2USA. Structured as a public-private partnership, H2USA,  will focus on advancing hydrogen infrastructure to support more transportation energy options for US consumers, including fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). David Danielson, Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy indicated that “fuel cell technologies are an important part of an all-of-the-above approach to diversify America’s transportation sector, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and increase our competitiveness in the global market. By bringing together key stakeholders from across the U.S. fuel cell and hydrogen industry, the H2USA partnership will help advance affordable fuel cell electric vehicles that save consumers money and give drivers more options.” The new partnership brings together automakers, government agencies, gas suppliers, and the hydrogen and fuel cell industries to coordinate research and identify cost-effective solutions to deploy infrastructure that can deliver affordable, clean hydrogen fuel in the United States.Current members of the H2USA partnership include the American Gas Association; Association of Global Automakers; the California Fuel Cell Partnership; the Electric Drive Transportation Association; the Fuel Cell [...]

EHA co-organizes Second IPHE Educational Encounter in London

The EHA is co-organized  the second Educational Encounter in collaboration with  the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy , IPHE,  on May 22, 2013 on the occasion of the IPHE meeting in London. The Encounter was hosted by the London Hydrogen Partnership and attended by IPHE members of US, China, Brazil, South Africa, Germany.  Simon Dite, PhD student at University College London presented his work on perspectives on dynamics of hydrogen storage development. The Educational Encounters  offer un opportunity to students and IPHE members to share the latest status of FC and H2 Technology and Education in their countries. The first  Encounter was held on November 13, 2012 in Seville on the occasion of the IPHE meeting in Seville. The next Educational Encounter is planned on the occasion of the IPHE meeting in Japan.  The IPHE welcomed Michio Hashimoto, Director General New Technology Division of the New Energy and Industrial  Technology Development. Dr. Hashimoto is following Dr. Nilgün Parker of the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. EHA director, Marieke Reijalt was appointed an official delegate of the IPHE in the Italian delegation to continue the EHA contribution to the IPHE Education Working Group. 

EU Council agrees to no regret EU Energy scenario

The EU Council on May 22 agreed to EU Commission president Barroso so-called “no regret energy scenario” for the coming years in view of the changing global energy outlook: One: complete the internal energy market. Two: invest in innovation and infrastructure. Three: commit to greater energy efficiency. Four: exploit renewable sources more cheaply. Five: diversify supplies. He also indicared EC support for th establishment of the European energy community, proposed by his predecessor Jacuqes Delors and former EU parliament president Jerzy Buzek.
