Hydrogen Hits the Roads

New 700bar H2 refueling station opens in Holstebro, Denmark

Published on: July 1, 2011

H2 Logic and Hydrogen Link announced on a joint press release on 20 June 2011 the launch of a new hydrogen refueling station in Holstebro, Denmark. The opening of the station, for which Mercedes B-Class F-Cell models were used, is notable for several reasons.

To start with it is the first 700bar refueling station as part of the LINK2009 project that has been supported by the Danish Energy Agency EUDP program with a project budget of €5 million.

More over, the 700bar station showcases the fast-filling technology by enabling a top-up in less than three minutes by using a globally standardised refueling nozzle and the SEA J2601 standards. In this sense it also enables the drivers to go distances of several hundred kilometers, making the fuel cell EVs at least as convenient as conventional gasoline vehicles.

Last but not least the station opening establishes the first steps towards the goal of countrywide network of hydrogen refueling stations in Denmark by 2015, an important element for ensuring the availability of hydrogen for the wide-scale market introduction of fuel cell EVs.
