Grid for Vehicles (G4V) Workshop

Start Date: 30 June, 2011 End Date: 30 June, 2011
Location: Renaissance Hotel, Rue du Parnasse 19, Brussels

G4V is a consortium assembled under the FP7 Program bringing together six energy utilities and six academic institutions across Europe. The consortium has been given the task to analyse the impact and possibilities of a mass introduction of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles on the electricity network in Europe and is now organizing a closing workshop where the main results and conclusions of the G4V project will be presented. The participants to this workshop will receive a detailed overview of the main results, conclusions and recommendations.

Within the last 18 months, the G4V has developed an analytical framework to plan the required technological developments in the grid infrastructure and the defined the related ICT and policy requirements in order to cope with a mass introduction of EVs.

On the one hand, the aim is to clearly understand the effects of a mass introduction under physically given parameters, taking into account local characteristics in different EU Member States as well as the regulatory framework in place. On the other hand, possible of active demand and storage possibilities are extensively explored as these also imply options for managing the possible negative impacts on the grid.

The event will be held on June 30, 2011 at the Renaissance Hotel, Rue du Parnasse 19, Brussels 1005 – Belgium from 08.30 to 17.00. The language will be English.
