TRA 2012 Transport Research Arena – Athens Greece

The Transport Research Arena (TRA) Conference to take place April 23-26th is an initiative of its organizing stakeholders, (CEDR, ERTRAC, ERRAC, WATERBORNE and EU) for the promotion of research in the Transport Sector in Europe.

TRA 2012 will focus on all aspects of all surface transport modes with the exception of overseas shipping. It is supported by the main transport industry stakeholders in Europe: the Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR), the European Commission (EC), the European Road Transport Research Advisory Council (ERTRAC), the European Rail Research Advisory Council (ERRAC), and the European Technology Platform Waterborne (WATERBORNE). TRA 2012 seeks to reflect the multidisciplinary nature of the transport sector and, for this reason, addresses all stakeholders in both the public and private sectors and all professionals, regardless of their roles (researchers, practitioners, designers, constructors, operators, administrators etc.). The main theme of TRA 2012 is Sustainable mobility through innovation.

Daimler to host debate on Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology, EU Parliament, 28 February 2012

Daimler will host an informative debate on the Future of Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Commercialisation on 28 February 2012 at the European Parliament. The debate will be chaired by Professor Vladko Panayotov MEP with guest speaker Dr Jorg Wind, Strategic Energys Project and Market Development , Daimler AG.

The debate will be moderated by Ian Williamson, president of the European Hydrogen Association (EHA).

The event will take place in the Members Salon from 12.30-2.30pm

FCH-JU Call for Proposals 2012 Public Information Session and Brokerage

NEW-IG and N.ERGHY invite all parties interested in responding to the FCH JU Call for proposals 2012 to participate in the Public Information Session and Brokerage event 2012.

The event will take place on 9^th of February 2012 in the premises of the FCH JU Programme Office, avenue de la Toison d’Or 56-60, Brussels.

The FCH JU will introduce the day in a Public Information Session on the 2012 Call for proposals (to be published mid-January). The session will cover the topics of this year’s call, processes, rules for submission of proposals as well as other useful information for participants.

The day will then continue with a Brokerage event co-organised by the Industry Grouping (NEW-IG) and the Research Grouping (N.ERGHY) of the FCH Joint Undertaking. Sessions will be organised by application areas and topics in order to facilitate concrete discussions and targeted networking. Each specific topic of the Call for proposals 2012 will be discussed twice to allow participants to take part in all discussions of their interest.

TEN-T Call for Proposals Open January 10th 2012

The European Commission’s Trans-European Transport Networks TEN-T Programme is one of the most important Community financing means for European transport infrastructure projects — equalling €8 billion for 2007–2013.

January 10th 2012 the call was officially opened for proposals until 13 APRIL 2012. The Public Information day is scheduled for 31 January in Brussels. For more information on the event and the TEN-T Call see: TEN-T Webpage

The call can serve as a good basis for proposal for deployment of hydrogen infrastructure projects. The text for the call for proposals may be found via: TEN-T call 2011

Intelligent Energy Europe 2012 Call for Proposals Open

Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE), was launched in 2003 by the European Commission, the programme is part of a broad push to create an energy-intelligent future for us all. It supports EU energy efficiency and renewable energy policies, with a view to reaching the EU 2020 targets (20% cut in greenhouse gas emissions, 20% improvement in energy efficiency and 20% of renewables in EU energy consumption). Intelligent Energy – Europe creates better conditions for a more sustainable energy future in areas as varied as renewable energy, energy-efficient buildings, industry, consumer products and transport.

Running until 2013, the programme is open to all EU Member States, plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Croatia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. A budget of € 730 million is available to fund projects and put into place a range of European portals, facilities and initiatives.

The new IEE call for project proposals is now open. In 2012, there will be € 67 million available for funding. Do not miss the opportunity to submit your ideas for projects in areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, clean transport and local energy investments!

The call closes on 8 May 2012 for all types of actions except the Build Up Skills initiative which has different deadlines.

European EV Battery Forum, to take place in Barcelona, Spain, 20-22 March 2012 will be the 5th edition of its series. It will start with a training course on Monday 19th and then a full day on E-Bikes, a full day on EV Charging Infrastructure, and a 2 day conference on EV business models and latest energy density advances.

North American International Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show is taking place in Detroit, Michigan on 9-22 January 2012. NAIAS 2011 featured 53 vehicle debuts with 32 of those being worldwide introductions. Over 5,000 journalists attended from 55 countries. More than 735,000 visitors passed through the doors during public days.

This year, more than 2000 companies represented by 21,000 professionals from the industry are expected to attend the show, and more than 500 vehicles will be on display.

EV Charging Infrastructure & Grid Integration 2012 will be a global multi-stakeholder summit bringing together leading utilities, vehicle manufacturers, distribution system operators, standardisation bodies and regulators from Europe and Asia. They will provide the latest business models for infrastructure investment and mobility services, case studies of successful E-Mobility projects and consumer behavioural studies, and provide the latest technological advances in fast-charging, smart-metering and ancillary systems.
