International Advanced Mobility Forum

8 Mar - 9 Mar, 2011

The International Advanced Mobility Forum takes place for the fourth time in 2011 alongside the Geneva International Motor Show in order to create most favourable synergies. The scientific and public forum brings together scientists and key actors from the motor industry to discuss individual mobility today and tomorrow. The International Advanced Mobility Forum (IAMF) is organized by GENEVA PALEXPO, the association e’mobile, the Competence Center for Energy and Mobility (CCEM) of Paul Scherrer Institut, Gasmobil AG and Euresearch. The forum is supported by the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Swiss Energy Council, auto-schweiz, FISITA, the Union Pétrolière, the Geneva International Motor Show and other partners. IAMF 2011: Outlook – Technologies and infrastructures for efficient vehicles and their implication The 4th edition of IAMF will be centered on the following questions: -Advanced powertrain and vehicle technologies -On board energy storage (batteries, compressed gases and liquid fuels) and supply infrastructures (CNG, LPG, Ethanol, Electricity, H2) -Marketing aspects of new technologies and consequences of new powertrain solutions Through scientific presentations, discussions and round tables, IAMF’s objectives are to: -Analyse the present situation and future development of technological solutions -Create the opportunity to exchange information on future mobility and encourage the entry of alternative [...]

Hydrogen refueling station inaugurated in Arjeplog, Sweden

March 3, 2011

A new hydrogen refuelling station opened on February 1st 2011 in Arjeplog, Sweden. The opening is a result of costumer desire to test their electric cars with fuel cells in cold climates. Several car manufacturers can already show off hydrogen-powered electric cars that have a performance at the same level of a conventional car with a combustion engine. In 2015, hundreds of thousands of these fuel cell vehicles to roll onto the market, according to some of the major car manufacturers. The use of these vehicles in the cold climate of the region will aim to eliminate doubt as to how fuel cells function in the cold and winter climate, which makes the test arena in northern Sweden is very attractive. Over the years, the number of vehicle manufacturers who wish to test the gas-powered vehicles (both light and heavy) in a cold climate has steadily increased. It is considered possible to obtain a sufficient volume for deployment of one or two public stations in this region. Source: Vatgas

Green Fuelling

Introduction

March 2, 2011

At the EHA Spring starts early this year. Fuel cell vehicles seem to pop up more frequently in references to electromobility and comments on the long term perspective of hydrogen are contradicted by recent the Mercedes Benz F-Cell World Tour and new refueling station openings. Five Think hydrogen passenger cars will be launched during the he Norwegian Hydrogen Forum General Assembly and EHA industry member McPhy signed a contract with Italy’s largest power company Enel for one of its solid hydrogen storage units.

The EHA assisted in the kick off of 5 European funded projects over the last month: February marked the kick off of the HyLIFT-DEMO project, demonstrating 30 Fuel Cell Forklift trucks in 3 European sites, the HyFacts project that is developing training programs for authorisation officials and the HyPROFESSIONALS project which aims to develop educational and training programs for future hydrogen professionals. The EHA also facilitated the first technical expert workshop in Brussels of the The FC-HyGuide project, which aims to develop a guidance manual for the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Fuel Cell and Hydrogen based systems and related training materials and courses.

Events to look forward to this following month include the HyRaMP commemorative cocktail which will highlight a new beginning for the partnership as it broadens it’s scope to Electromobility on March 16th. Both the EHA and HyRaMP are speaking at the European Parliament Seminar, “Powering Europe’s Future Mobility” hosted by the European political group ALDE on March 15.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-Cell; New Orleans to Baytown-Houston

Following the Mercedes Benz F-Cell World Tour

March 2, 2011

EHA is following the progress of the 3 B-Class F-Cell  vehicles that were launched for their trip around the world. The journey started on the 29th of January 2011 in Stuttgart Germany, and in 125 days the vehicles will have traveled around the world and a distance of 30,000 km. The editor and others involved in the journey are frequently updating the public on their trip. Their journal not only lets us know about the vehicles but gives an interesting story to the people and places that are visited around the world.  The latest news shows the vehicles are in New Orleans Louisiana in the USA.

HyER (formerly HyRaMP) Commemorates New Spring In Electric and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Roll Out

16 Mar - 16 Mar, 2001

On February 16th 2011, HyRaMP members along with additional European regions came together in an effort to establish the  “broadened HyRaMP Partnership” at a Workshop that took place in Brussels.

At a Workshop  HyRaMP future activities were discussed and it was decided to take the necessary steps to adapt HyRaMP’s structure and its name to reflect the new activities, to be presented to HyRaMP members at the next Annual General Meeting later this year.

To commemorate this new spring in European regions support for the roll out of electric vehicles in Europe, HyRaMP will be hosting a cocktail ceremony on March 16th at the Palais de Academies in Brussels.
