Deadline for 2011 FC&HE Conference Program Addendum

After the recent merger of the National Hydrogen Association (NHA) with the U.S. Fuel Cell Council (USFCC) to form the new Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA), there has been a strong and sustained surge of interest in both the advanced technology our industry offers and in our industry’s annual conference and exposition which is coming up in the D.C. area, February 13-16. Exhibit space on floorplan at Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy 2011 is almost completely sold out but there are a few spaces that are still be available. Here is a link to the current floorplan: http://McNabbMarketing.com/NHA/floorplan.pdf If your company has been considering taking an exhibit space, you can still be accommodated by you up until Friday, February 4th. That is the deadline for the Program Addendum which would list your company and include a description of your product. The Addendum is a great way to highlight your company as it often gets special attention from conference delegates. Let us know as soon as possible if you are considering an exhibit. Basic Seminar: Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technology

Compact and expert knowledge Organised by the Fuel Cell Education Centre, the seminars vividly convey the necessary basic knowledge for further study of fuel cells and hydrogen. In addition to the physical-chemical basis, the seminars offer a descriptive overview of the application fields and the economic importance of energy fuel cell technology. Operating characteristics and applications of fuel cells can be at test facilities and demonstration plants reproduced at WBZU. Background: fuel cells as efficient and versatile power converter Fuel cells are universally applicable, from the vehicle driven by portable generators as well as in domestic energy supply. Because of their high efficiency and contribute to the Resource Conservation and release of “clean” hydrogen produced no carbon dioxide or air pollutants. In certain market segments, such as generators or UPS, fuel cells are already available on the market. In the vehicle sector and in Hausenergieversorung current large-scale and very promising field trials are underway. Topics •  Introduction to the topic •  Technical information for Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technology - Fundamentals of fuel cell: structure, function, principle, system engineering - Basics of hydrogen energy: properties, safety, handling - development trends and future prospects •  Applications and Markets – Fuel cell vehicles in the context of electric mobility – [...]

CLEPA Event: The evolution of the supply chain in the automotive industry, February 9

CLEPA, The European Association for Automotive for Automotive Suppliers regularly organises events, conferences, workshops and exhibitions, either to promote a topic of particular importance, or in the context of a project. The next event will be a debate on The evolution of the supply chain in the automotive industry on February 9 2011. The supply chain in the automotive industry is facing a profound transformation to keep pace with innovation and address new mobility and transportation needs. Technological advancements for greener and safer vehicles will be further driven by a new interaction among all the economic actors involved in the supply chain. Participants will be invited to share views on : ·         the impact of the electric vehicle on the supply chain; ·         the access to raw materials; ·         the access to finance; ·         new products and new markets; ·         The impact on employment in the new value chain. The outcome of this debate will fuel the discussions of the CARS21 High Level Group and contribute to shape the future of the European automotive industry. see the complete programme on clepa.eu

U.S. funds for green cars

The Department of Energy (DOE) released funding figures  of its Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM) program, which provides for direct loans to support the development of U.S. high-tech vehicles and components. The program is in line with the Obama administration’s goal of creating “green” jobs  in the auto industry, contributing  to facilitate the achievement of future targets for reducing fuel consumption. The loans are intended to cover “the cost of the retrofit, expansion and creation of production facilities in the United States.” Not included is  funding for research and development or other business purposes. Of the $ 25 billion that was set aside in 2008, only 8 has been spent, the main beneficiary being Ford, which has used 5.9 billion in 5 establishments employing an extra 33 thousand people. Nissan also benefitted from the program in Tennessee for the factory where the electric car Leaf will be released. Funding also went to Tesla and Fisker. For more information about the program visit energy.gov, source: ilsole24ore (In Italian)
