Hydrogen corridor planned in Scotland
September 16, 2009The ‘Scotland’s Hydrogen Future’, which includes a newly unveiled plan for a ‘hydrogen corridor’ from Aberdeen to Inverness has been discussed during the conference on ‘Building a Sustainable Economy through Hydrogen and Renewable Energy ‘organized by the Moray-based United Nations Training Centre, the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association, and the Royal Mail. “The prospect of a ‘Hydrogen Corridor’ between Aberdeen and Inverness is an exciting first for Scotland and the UK. The creation of an infrastructure to refuel road vehicles with hydrogen means that there will be a realistic alternative to petrol and diesel. “I am pleased that the Royal Mail Group is a strong supporter of this project and that the UN Training Centre in Moray is playing such a positive role in developing leading global standards here in Scotland.” said Moray MP and Westminster SNP Group Leader Angus Robertson during the conference. The ‘Scottish Hydrogen Corridor’ is expected to run along a 150-mile stretch of road from Aberdeen to Inverness, via Findhorn in Moray.
